Whether a by-election for the Newcastle ward takes places is unknown because although a third of the seats are up for election in May the deceased Councillor's term ends in 2012. I suspect there will be a double vacancy in May.
This week not only do we have the Parliamentary by-election for Oldham East & Saddleworth to cover but there are Council vacancies in Cornwall and Norfolk to be filled. Previews for the latter will be up on Wednesday.
